Location and site
Park Place is situated on the western outskirts of the village of Wickham, which is about three miles north of Fareham.
Historic description
An old deer park; a picturesque landscape as purported by Uvedale Price. A fine Georgian house set in extensive grounds of c7.25 ha (18 acres), now a Pastoral Centre run by the Congregation of Franciscan Sisters of St Mary of the Angels in conjunction with the Catholic Diocese of Portsmouth. The house has been extensively enlarged with additional accommodation and chapel. Parkland was sold off to form a Golf Course.
Current description
The Centre has now been developed and offers conference and concert facilities. It remains a pastoral centre, part-funded by the Friends Association advertising itself as having 18 acres of woodland and fields, lying behind the house.
